Bill Forster in Budapest on his recent European holiday
Bill Forster, 49 years old, is a software engineer. He lives with his wife Maria Champion-Forster, in Wellington, New Zealand. Bill and Maria recently completed an eight week European holiday. They visited London, Paris, Berlin, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Prague, Budapest and Rome. They also spent time in the countryside in the UK, Germany and Italy and cruised along the Danube. Bill is a keen amateur chess player (FIDE Elo 1928) and their time in the German countryside was spent at Brakel, where Bill played in the Kaiserbrunnen Easter Open. Bill's chess hobby extends to writing chess software (The Tarrasch Chess GUI, see www.triplehappy.com), and helping produce the New Zealand Chess Magazine. Bill plays at the Wellington Chess Club, founded in 1876 and home of nine times New Zealand champion IM Anthony Ker and his great friend and rival IM Russell Dive, and many other keen players of all strengths. For the past six months the Wellington club has also been hosting rising English GM Gawain Jones. |
